Einstein turns 1!

Einstein turned 1 year old on Friday so of course we had a BIG weekend of celebrating! Friday night we had a family celebration and let him open a few of his presents.

We took him to get a KFC chicken strip and then a kid's frozen custard from Bop's. His favorite foods in the whole world! Then Saturday we had a birthday party and invited some of his friends! We had a Bone Hunt, a sit contest, and an ice cream eating contest. He had so much fun! Everyone found a bone in the hunt, and Miss, the pit bull, came in 1st in the sit contest and the ice cream eating contest. May the Pug came in 2nd in the eating contest and Bailey, Einstein's biological mommy came in 2nd in the sit contest. Blue the chiuaua had to leave early because he got in trouble. :(

It was such a funny party and all the dogs seemed to have a good time! Sunday I took him to his Grandma's house for a visit because if he could talk....I know that's what he would have said he wanted to do for his birthday!!! :)

Okay, blogworld.....I'm determined to become a regular blogger even when I don't have anything to say. We had a pretty uneventful weekend. Friday night we went to Angus Jack's for some yummy steak and wine. If you live in Hattiesburg and haven't tried it, then you should go. They have some really good steak. When we got home, Brett had to return to studying for his comps, which he takes at the end of this week. I watched 'Running with Scissors' which I give 10 thumbs down. I had to force myself to finish it. I never enjoy movies that win a lot of awards,....I should have known better. Saturday I took E to the vet and to PetSmart, then around town to get his father's day gift for his daddy ;). Saturday night we had supper club which was a benefit for our local Humane Society as well as a birthday party for a few of our members. We had lots of wonderful shrimp and champagne! YUMMY! Also, since it was for the shelter, our doggies were invited too! Einstein had fun mingling with the guest and begging for food and he didn't bite anyone so all and all it was a successful outing. Sunday we woke up and Einstein gave Brett his father's day gift and we cooked him some breakfast. Brett has really been a wonderful daddy to Einstein and I can't wait to see what an amazing dad he will be to our human kids one day! For the rest of the afternoon I worked in the yard in this thousand degree weather and then tried to introduce Einstein to his new doggie pool. It wasn't a big hit. He just took the wet floating balls out of it and played with them and decided the pool would suffice as an XXL water bowl. Oh well. My parents just got back from vacation on Sunday night and since it was father's day, I decided to take them dinner so they wouldn't have to worry about cooking. I felt so bad for them, they got home from vacation....the waterhose had busted and was spraying all over the yard and the air conditioner was broken in this 100 degree weather. Not a fun homecoming. So anyway, I couldn't bear the heat so we didn't visit long. Please God, don't let my AC break this summer!!!! The Cassell's have a busy week ahead with Brett taking comps (pray for him to pass) and me getting everything ready for Einstein's first birthday party! Yes! I am giving my dog a birthday party and I can't wait!!!! Peace out bloggers!

Give my regards to Broadway.....

So Brett and I just got back from New York. He had to work at Mississippi Picnic in Central Park for the Southern Miss Alumni Association. We had a blast. Thursday we walked around Times Square, had some REAL New York pizza,

and went and saw the Lion King, which was an amazing show. It was Brett's first Broadway show and I am pretty sure he's hooked. To me, it wasn't necessarily the best play I had ever seen but the costumes were unreal!!!! How on earth do they think of that stuff?!?!? We stopped by Magnolia Baker (from Sex and the City) and had some cupcakes, but I do have to say....they don't even compare to Hattiesburg's own Homebaked! However, New Yorker's really love them. There was a line at that bakery around the clock.

Friday we took the Ferry out to the Statue of Liberty and then Friday night we had an alumni event at the 21 Club which was tons of fun.

Saturday was the picnic and our last night in the Big Apple so we packed in shopping in Chinatown, dinner in Little Italy, and a nightime tour of the Empire State Building.

It was such a quick trip but I'm glad Brett got to do all the NYC 'touristy' things. Goodbye Big Apple!

Supper club hits Key West!

Brett and I joined a supper club when we got engaged and it has been the best time. We have all become extremely close and we actually decided to take a vacation together. Ten of us ended up going to Key West and renting a house together for Memorial Day. It was so much fun! This was my first trip to Key West and it's definitely a different world. We rented a scooter and I literally thought I was going to die there. (Now Brett is dying to buy one...ugh!) We had wonderful food, drank way too many frozen daquiris, viewed some AMAZING sunsets, and saw some beautiful beaches! However, next time I am taking Einstein because you can take dogs everywhere there.....restaurants, shops, everywhere. We are definitely going back!!!

Life is good. We had a wonderful anniversary. We went to Emeril's Fish House (my favorite) for dinner and I got their amazing Shrimp and Grits (yummmmm!). Our anniversary coincided with Mother’s Day so Brett gave me a new camera for our anniversary and I got a digital picture frame for Mother’s Day from ‘Einstein’. I gave Brett tickets to see the Lion King on Broadway in a few weeks and I can’t wait for that either! We went to Key West for our anniversary trip with some of our friends and we had a blast!!! I can’t wait to go back!

I thank God for this wonderful year and the wonderful man I have had the pleasure of calling my husband! Happy anniversary Brett!
